Wednesday night MTB Short Track Race #2

Another fun night of short track racing thanks to Boise Rush cycling. The course was fast, and the sand was not forgiving. Those on cyclocross bikes had a solid advantage, and ended up on top of the podium!
Results:
  • Cat 2: 1st place - Leah Mullen
  • Cat 3: 1st place - Anna Megale; 2nd place - Tiedji Baker; 3rd place - Nadine Carter

The beginner course consisted of 9 miles and 1000ft elevation gain. The Sport course as 16 miles and 2200ft elevation gain. The Pro course included both the beginner and the sport laps. Two BVW participated and stood on the podium!

  • Sport: 2nd place - Nadine Carter

SWICA Crit #1

This is the 1st of 6 Criteriums "Crits" that take place at the Ada County Fairgrounds in Boise.  The Boise VeloWomen are in charge of organizing and executing three of the 6 races this summer. The races happen each week, and range from 20-50 minutes depending on the category. These races are the appetizer to the main course that is Twilight Criterium and Idaho State Criterium coming in July. Nothing is quite as exciting as a peleton of cyclists flying by each lap at high speed!

Results from week 1 Cat 4 Women/Juniors:
  • Erin Shelton - 5th place
  • Kelsey Spiegle - 7th place
Stay tuned for the next 5 races!

Wednesday night MTB Short Track Race #3

Picture
Sadly, the 3rd and last Wednesday Night MTB Short Track race of the 3-race series has passed. However, it was exciting and more difficult than the two races that came before. The race organizers heard feedback that the MTB race need to be a little more MTBish. There were several more people on mountain bikes, and the race was very competitive.
Results:
  • Cat 2: 1st place - Leah Mullen; 2nd place - Anna Megale
  • Cat 3:  1st place - Kelsey Spiegel; 2nd place - Erin Morra; 3rd place - Morgan Cornwall

Cycle for Independence

The Cycle for Independence is a national fundraiser for the National Federation for the Blind. Two of the BVW participated in this event, completing the Metric Century distances. Great job Theresa S. and Erin M!

Enjoy pics from these events!

This is an exciting thing to do. Honestly, really makes sense. Aside from having different unions and rally about a lot of things during Independence day, we should rather do this. It is just a waste of time to do some rally and no one is listening to you, but you keep on having your rants. It is better to make cycling to be healthy. It is not just an ordinary exercise, but also a way of releasing stress. Thank you so much for letting us know what you did and sharing your experience.
