Ready or not, Race season is HERE!

This weekend started the race season off with a bang, with team members racing in multiple disciplines across multiple states. Members raced the 1st of the Bob's Spring Breakout Series put on by Bob's Bicycles, Echo Red2Red MTB race in Echo, Oregon, and the 1st of the Oregon Gravel Grinder series - Gorge Gravel Grinder in The Dalles, Oregon. Bob's Spring Breakout Series Race #1

Boise, Idaho, April 1st, 2017

Five of our women participated in the road race scene last Saturday, including teammate Nicole racing for her first time on the road! The course this year is different than previously years in the Hammer series, and it included train tracks that proved to be challenging when a train crossed mid-race! Fortunately, Kelsey worked with team members and was able to secure a podium spot for her first race of the season.

Echo Red2Red XC MTB Race

Echo, Oregon, April 1st, 2017

Team member Nadine participated her first race of the season, at Echo Red2Red XC MTB race. The race takes place in a sleepy town near Hermiston, where the population of the city appears to double for the race. Nadine raced in the Cat 2 Women's group where she had a very good race and earned a 2nd place podium spot.

Gorge Gravel Grinder

The Dalles, Oregon, April 2nd, 2017. 

Nadine and Erin, along with men from Team Donger, spent Sunday racing on a combination of asphalt and gravel in the hills above The Dalles. Since the race was mostly on the road, and due to 25mph headwinds, group tactics were key to survival. Erin was able to keep up with the lead group of racers and finished on the top of the podium. Nadine, her husband Scott, and a new friend race friend named Mielle, stayed together and were able to finish the race with some podium spots as well.  It was a great beginning of gravel season!
